Congratulations! Taking a college course while in high school has many benefits, including, most importantly, helping you become more prepared for the academic expectations of college.
Dual Enrollment Process:
- Enroll in the course at your high school that is approved for dual enrollment.
- Register and pay for TCNJ credits at the beginning of the course on the TCNJ website. You must register for TCNJ credits by November 3. You will be charged $550 for each course.
- Participate in the high school course. Be sure to complete all assignments and meet all attendance requirements throughout the school year.
- At the end of the course, your high school teacher will submit grades to TCNJ. Students need to earn a grade of C or higher to earn the college credit. The grade you earn in your course is the grade that will be recorded on your TCNJ transcript.
A few things to know:
- Students who register for TCNJ credits will be enrolled as non-matriculating TCNJ students, enabling them access to TCNJ library services.
- Credits earned at TCNJ are transferable to many colleges and universities throughout the country.
- The grades earned in dual enrollment courses are included in the GPA calculation for future TCNJ students. Please note that Dual Enrolled course equivalencies in a content area are subject to change. Credit is granted at the discretion of the department(s) involved, according to the departmental policies in place for the coming Fall term.
- Students who do not pay at the beginning of the course are not eligible to earn TCNJ credits.
- Students applying to TCNJ will have their application fee waved.
